April 19th, Prof. Stefan Wehner,Dean of the Faculty of Mathematics and Sciences, University of Koblenz-Landau, Germany, was invited to visit CMSE accompanied by Ms. Anja Feege, Germany deputy of the Sino-German Institute in Fuzhou University.
Professor Stefan Wehner started his academic trip with a colloquium with some faculty members of CMSE inlcuding Chen Dongyang, Sa Baisheng in Room 313, Jiaxi Building. The colloquium was presided over by Zhang Teng, Vice Dean of CMSE. Professor Zhang Teng extended a warm welcome to Prof. Wehner and gave a brief overview of CMSE. After a brief introduction to University of Koblenz-Randow, Prof. Wehner detailed the information of its disciplines related to materials science and engineering and extended his hope for future cooperation with CMSE. According to Ms. Feige, with the launching of the program of 1+2 master's degree, a solid foundation has been laid between Fuzhou University and Koblenz-Langdon University for academic cooperation. And she responded in great detail to questions from the teachers present.
Following the colloquium, an academic lecture titled Diamond-like Carbon (DLC) Coatings on Plastic Materials was given by Professor Wehner in Room 406. It is fact that Wehner's research group successfully covers the DLC on the surface of the polymer by plasma enhanced vapor deposition (PECVD) to form a dense protective layer with low wear, good chemical stability, antibacterial and good biocompatibility. Compared with average polymer materials, it promises much broad application prospects.
Professor Wehner's visit has promoted extensive mutual contacts between Fuzhou university and University of Koblenz-Landau and promised prospects for further cooperation between both sides.
